Never leave Excel.
Generate ABA files
right inside your spreadsheet.
The createABA add-in plugs directly into Excel, validating each row live, flagging errors inline, and downloading a bank-ready ABA file with one click.
Built for teams that live in Excel
Bank details saved in your workbook
BSB, account number, bank, APCA ID, payment type: all stored directly in the Excel file. They're there next pay run without re-entering a thing.
Validates as you type, using Excel formulas
A formula in the Status column checks every row live: BSB format, account digits, amount, reference. Errors show inline with a plain-English message.
Your data never leaves your computer
All ABA file generation happens inside Excel. No uploads. No cloud processing. Payment data stays on your machine.
How it works: three steps
Click "Generate Payment Sheet". Once.
Open the createABA add-in from the Excel ribbon. One click writes a structured payment layout into your active sheet: a dashboard zone for your bank details, frozen column headers, and 1,000 pre-validated rows ready to fill.
Bank details are saved in the workbook. Business name, BSB, bank, APCA User ID, payment type: all there next month, without re-entering anything.
1 error — fix before generating
Row 13: Invalid BSB — must be XXX-XXX e.g. 062-123 →
Paste your payments. Every row validates live.
Paste or type your payment rows: Name, BSB, Account, Amount, Reference. A formula in the Status column checks each row the moment you leave it.
Invalid BSB format? Missing account digits? You get a plain-English error in the cell, not a rejection from your bank three days later.
What the Status column checks:
- ✓ BSB is exactly XXX-XXX format (e.g. 063-152)
- ✓ Account number is 6–9 digits
- ✓ Amount is a positive number
- ✓ Name and reference are not blank
All rows green. Click once. Done.
When every row shows a green tick, the createABA task pane confirms the total and row count. Click "Create ABA File for Bank Upload" and the file downloads instantly.
Upload it to your bank's internet banking: ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, NAB, Westpac, and 47 others. The ABA format is standardised across all Australian banks.
Payroll runs. Supplier payments. Any batch.
Switch between payroll and supplier payments by changing a single dropdown. Bank details stay in the workbook. No re-entering anything next pay run.
